Determining the date of Easter
The ecclesiastical rules for the date of Easter are:
- Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after the day of vernal equinox.
- this particular ecclesiastical full moon is the 14th day of a tabular lunation (new moon); and
- the vernal equinox is fixed at March 21st.
This limits the date of Easter to never before March 22nd and never after April 25th.
Future dates are:
- April 11, 2004
- March 27, 2005
- April 16, 2006
- April 8, 2007
- March 23, 2008
