ECW 2004
ECW NEWS
December 20, 2004
The Advent dinner was a huge success, with more than 120 people attending. Many thanks to Vera Carson, Frances Lahm, Nancy Wooldridge, Richard Stanley, Brenda Albinger and all who helped to make things go smoothly. Thanks to all who brought such delicious food!
New table decorations have been purchased by the ECW. Not only are they beautiful, they are MUCH safer. click here for pictures
The Bishop's Reception was beautiful! Congratulations to our confirmands, Edith and Darrell Reeves!
Many thanks to our hostess for the event, Nancy Potter, and all who assisted her. Again, thanks to all who brought delicious food!
NEXT MEETING: 24 January, '05 at 6:30 p.m. We will have a White
Elephant party. Choose something in your home that you consider to be a "White Elephant" ... in other words, absolutely no use to you whatsoever "ಞ" wrap it up as a gift, and we will have a gift exchange.
Also: If you are a reader and would like to bring a book (or some books) to swap, please do so. We will set up a book-swap table.
We will have a mini business meeting to catch-up on the latest happenings.
Finally: January is traditionally the month when we collect 'dues' (for want of another term) ... a dollar a month, payable all at once, helps us to cover the cost of our regular operations so that we can devote the money we raise to: 'inreach', for our own church; and 'outreach' to others. Please make your cheque out to St. Thomas, and mark it ECW in the lower left-hand corner. This way it can be credited, with your pledge, for tax purposes.
Thank you for your continued support as I learn how to be your
ECW president!
Take care, everyone!
Yvonne

Stepping-up to the plate:
For many years Episcopal Church Women have worked hard on our behalf, and on behalf of people inside and outside of our community. We owe those who have gone before us the privilege of honouring their achievements by carrying on their work. We have in our midst ladies who have worked tirelessly for many years, but it is time for the rest of us to shoulder some of the responsibilities and give them help, or, in some cases, to take on entire tasks. Many times I hear someone say something to the effect that: " ___ always does that, I don't want to step on toes." The truth is that people tend to do things year after year because no-one seems to step up to the plate and say "May I help?" I know many of us are very busy and our spare time is precious, but please try to help at the various St. Thomas ministries and functions if at all possible ... the spirits of the people who began our church by worshipping in a tent at the start of the last century will smile upon you, as will the spirits of all our cherished members who have gone before us.
