The Lenten Program 2005

Fr. Jim Taylor

This past fall I was praying and thinking about our Lenten program for 2005. I wanted us to have a program that would be uplifting and informative. Also a program that would help us to discover deeper the meaning of Lent. This year we will have different ministers from around the Park Circle area to speak to us each Thursday night. They will speak about their denomination and how they observe Lent. We will begin each Thursday night program with a supper at 6:00pm, provided by volunteers. After supper we will have music, Evening Prayer and program. Our first supper will be potluck. So prepare your favorite dishes and come to St. Thomas. Below is a list of our guest speakers:

February 17th -- Fr. Gabreil Bullock -- St. John's Eastern Orthodox Greek Church (potluck)

February 24th -- The Rev. Robert F Rodewell -- Advent Lutheran Church (soup & sandwiches)

March 3rd -- The Rev. Thomas C. Harris -- park Circle Presbyterian Church (chili)

March 10th -- The Rev. Woody Wiggins -- North Charleston United Methodist Church

March 17th -- Fr. Edward Fitzgerald -- Hanahan Divine Redeemer Catholic Church

As we approach the season of Lent, remember Lent is about self-examination, sacrifice and simplicity. During Lent we are asked to examine our relationship with God and each other. Asking God to show us how we can strengthen our relationship with Him and grow closer to our living Lord. May God continue to bless all of us
